I think the Zone BBS's Community Leaders and administrators should reconsider their decision on the consequences of the user known as Lasota678, or Levi's actions.
At first I heard that he had hacked big C or Chris's account. Come to fine out that he hacked others' accounts and even their computers.
I believe that it states in the Zone BBS's Terms of Service that doing such a thing results in a permanent ban, therefore the appropriate actions should be taken against him. I also think that as of late the site administrators have either been lacking--or overdoing. People have been banned for things not in the terms, and people have been let of too lightly. Something should be done at a higher level.
I would aree. Hacking someone's computer is no small offense. Although many warn computer users to store such information in a safe manner, many still have medical records, financial records, adn other pieces of personal information that could potentially be exploited for nefarious purposes.
I believe that in this case, a permanent ban would be appropriate.
i agree. i mean, not mentioning any names, but i kno of someone else who didn't hack acounts, but ended up getting band for what would be considered less violating than this.

If he hacked multiple ZBP accounts, and people's computers, I definitely don't think he deserves a second chance.

I don't know what happened. But if what everyone said is true and he hacked accounts, whether they be on the site or ZBP, then I agree with the original post. He needs to be banned for a lot longer than a week!
well, he not only hacked my zbp account, but he told me that he had a problem with his computer, and I linked up with him using jaws tandom. Then with out me knowing, he pulled my zone info, logged in to my account and found my pen. A week is just like a slap on the hand. What he did violated my personal space, and whould not be taken lightly. Pluss, I herd that this person had hacked mor than one account

I am unaware of him hacking anyone else or getting into anyone elses accounts/computers. However, if there are people that have experienced this, they're welcome to contact me, and I may change my dicision. You also have the right as always to talk to the admins if you don't agree with the dicision of a cl.
i agree with Bri. Jess, please do explain why the hell he should get a second chance to hack more acounts? you don't make a "mistake" if you knowingly do that, weather it be here on the zone or anywhere else. you actually have to kno what your doing and how to do it to begin with. Levi obviously knew what he was doing, and therefore should be held acountable for his actions. baning him for a week is like saying that it's okay to do it, cause the longest ban you'll get is a meezly week.
but see you all need all the facts befor you talk about things you dont know. LEVI _ BIG C AND OTHERS were running around as friends calling zone by phone one three way and also they were allowing each other to remotly access each others computer. So in fact this is not hacking but rather teen age kids hanging out as they call it having fun and doing stuff like lets try things and lets try that. One thing i have learnt is people on the zone are quick to judge situation before they have the full facts.
I think there's a difference between hacking someone's computer and being invited to share computers or whatever it is. if you go and connect up to someone elses computer you're doing that at your own risk and wreep the consiquences of doing something so open to abuse. you should only do it if you're sure you can trusrt the person on the other end.
however if it's a hacking issue then absolutely, no second chances, is my opinion.
Chris linked to Levi through JAWS and Levi lied, saying he was having trouble, and hacked around Chris in to his Zone account. Ask Chris about it.

Princess Leia, had you have taken the time to read the Zone's 'Terms of Service' before starting this ill-informed petition for the permanent banning of Lasota678, I can guarantee you that one thing you most assuredly wouldn't have read was that such an offense would incur a permanent ban. So please read the 'Terms of Service', don't just make things up to suit your own which hunt.
Now let's deal with a couple of things in the TOS that are actually there shall we?
2. Users are responsible for the actions that occur using their account, regardless of whether or not they were the user that performed them. Never, in any circumstance, share passwords or other account information with anyone.
12. Users are strongly advised against sharing personally identifiable information for any reason. The Zone BBS is not responsible for any action, event, or circumstance that arises as the result of the sharing of such information.
big C, by your own admission you gave Lasota678, Levi, whatever you choose to call him access to your computer and thus made it possible, no matter how inadvertently for him to do as he wished with your Zonebbs account. That sir, put bluntly, is your own lookout. my advice to you, if you feel as invaded as you claim, is to learn a lesson about which people you should and shouldn't trust in the future. Your poor judgment with regard to friend's though is nobody's problem but your own.
Certainly Lasota didn't hack into anybody's computer, so let's stop with that nonsense now. Though it should also be pointed out that even if he had have done, that is of no concern to the administrators of this website. If it doesn't take place on this site, then it is of no consequence to the people running this site.
As for the rest of it, I'm inclined to believe Doug's take on things which is that big C and others have all been sharing information with each other, and it's just that now they've been caught doing it, Lasota is the chump who's been left carrying the can for everybody's actions. So it would seem that big C isn't the only user who should perhaps choose his friends more carefully.
In short, not only would I say no to the original outcry of this petition, but indeed were I still involved with the staff, I'd be taking a closer look at big C and others and possibly handing out more bans for account information sharing.

harp that was great because as of lately if someone's so called friend gets banned or anything people so easilly start bashing the CL's like you said with no facts to back up and expect you guys to police what goes on outside this site just because it may have to do with users from this place. That's something that you all need to work on. Getting the facts before going to bash someone. It can't just be based on your opinion - your claim needs to be backed by evidence.
I agree with what Griffin and Harp have said. Also, if you let him in through jaws, that's not hacking. You gave him the code to enter, so that's that.

On Saturday night, sometime late Eastern time, I was on ZBP with Chris, Levi, and a few others.
Levi did say he was having problems with his computer, and Chris mentioned linking up to it with JAWS Tandem, seeing as they both have JAWS 10. Levi then told Chris to log into his Zone account, and Chris, I believe, said no.
Chris then logged into The Zone, but I guess Levi's Internet Explorer was set to store passwords/usernames for login info. And I don't think either of them knew this at the time.
After Chris disconnected from Tandem, Levi said something along the lines of "Oh Chris, I think I have your password for The Zone now." A few minutes later, he denied it. All of us, believing it at the time, went along with it. Apparently we were dead wrong.
Now over to the Russian side of things. Zhenya and Levi were in a relationship for two days, starting that same Saturday night, but later. After the computer linkup. Why, I don't know. But he took it way too far and acted like a total ass hole towards her when they were in Conference --- Lina and I were there and whitnessed some of it.
Zhenya then broke up with him on Monday. She then called me yesterday, asking for Levi's number. I questioned her, and she said Chris suspected Levi was on his account on ZBP, because he saw himself logged in when he really wasn't. So he changed his PIN and other personal information, logged in, and kicked Levi out.
Chris called me and told me this not too long after I had hung up with Zhenya. He said he talked to a Community Leader about it and they traced the number back to a 904 area code, which is Levi's. That's why Zhenya asked for Levi's number. Chris then gave the CL the rest of the phone number, which turned out to match up to Levi's mobile phone.
And that's what happened.
Personally, I agree with Iyana. I think he should be banned forever; not just a week. I mean, if he's let back, who's to say he won't do it again?
And Jess, no offense, but you don't know what you're talking about. Blah you.

well, chris didn't give him the password, he took it from his computer, but chris let him onto his computer....and that allowed him to get the information he needed to log into his account.
now, I might have gotten it wrong here, but all anyone is guilty of here is stupidity. sure, lasota may well have logged into someone's account without their permition, and yes, that's bad, but by no bloody account should anyone give access to their own personal computer and all its files and so on to someone they have only just met on zbp!

Ok, this is just my opinion, and what I think. Rather than making boards about this stuff? Can you guys just deal with this sstrictly with a CL or Admin? I personally think they do all they can for the site.
Just bashing, or whatever you want to call it isn't going to get this anywhere, these patition things I think are pretty pointless as well. If you think someone should be banned, or should have a second chance, there's a link or two to contact one of the CL's or Admins about that.
I was around and saw them pight for control of his account. I would suggest that you not make assumptions about who I get my sources from before bashing me for what you really don't know I did or didn't see. I had no problems with Levi, sure I thought he was annoying, but that means nothing.
I see that any time a serious topic is brought up, no one cares. All anyone knows how to do is bash, bash, criticize, bash, flame, criticize, and worse, make assumptions and jump to conclusions. It's pathetic. I'm disappointed--not in you, but in myself for wasting time on people who can't be impartial at all. You're not worth being disappointed in if all you can do is turn a board that tried to clear up an issue and deal out the correct punishment that would have been dealt last year or before had the circumstances arose in to a drama zone. It's just another sign of the zone and its authorities' deterioration.
Well that's really cleared up the confusion. So let's see, Chris tandemmed with Levi's computer in order to help him fix some unspecified issue or other. Levi then told Chris to log into the Zone. Not sure where the Zone even fits into this computer problem but let's not get stuck on insignificant details. Chris said no, then promptly logged into the Zone. Yep, really making sense so far. But wait, it gets better. Levi then volunteers to everybody including Chris that he thinks he now has Chris's account information, then a few minutes later retracts that statement. You know, at this point I actually can't claim to be surprised that the statement you dimwits all believed was the lie.
Now I don't deny that Levi has done something that he should be punished for. Indeed he is being punished for it even as we speak, but he hasn't done anything so drastically wrong that his account should never be reactivated. That's a ridiculous overreaction for the purported crime. One might even go so far as to suggest that this is nothing more than a bunch of malicious, petty Zoner's ganging up and trying to backstab a former friend. You don't have to like the guy if you don't wish, but trying to get him permanently band for something as silly as this? Come on. It's not like any real harm was done here. Nobody got hurt, or ripped off for thousands of dollars or anything of that nature. Grow up.
As I said in my previous post, I think the lot of you, Levi included given the way you've all gone after him, need to put this one down to experience, first lesson, choose your friends a damn site more carefully.
It's a mute point anyway because he isn't going to be permanently banned no matter how vociferously you all clamor for it. A first ban is almost never a permanent one, and certainly not for something as insignificant as this. Come to think of it, and I say this as somebody who was a community leader for a couple of years, I don't recall a first ban ever being a permanent one.
To Levi if you ever get round to viewing this topic, you did do something silly from the sounds of things, and hopefully the week away from the site will have taught you a lesson. I also have to say for your own good, don't ever consider any of this lot your friends again, because friends they're certainly not.

there has never been a case that has been proven of nay9one hacking a zone acct without somewhere alog the line that one gave out the password at some point in time, big c had to either give him hte password or give him access to his computer. I still stand by the story that all three of them were friends and that they were in this together....

I have stated that Levi called several people to tell them he was hacking accounts, Dianna and Chris among them. So at this point I totally discredit any claim that she has made. I also to clear up further bantering. I have banned big c and flier mdrn for the following reason. both big c and levi's zone acct showed that they had all three accessed zbp through big c and levis phone number. what this shows is that all of them had been doing some form of acct sharing which as we all know is against the zone rules.
I only explained the reasoning for these ban because I know that when morning comes there will be all kinds of rumors as to why this ban was made. And here you have as to why they was so there wont be any misunderstandings.

Well, as you're clearly uncertain as to the actual meaning of contradictory, I'll help you out.
1. In your second post you accuse all of us of flaming, bashing etc. While at the same time seem to be attempting to put yourself on a pedestal. Yet in posts one and two you suggest that the sites administration is either lazy or incompetent, in your second post you state that the rest of us are apparently so beneath contempt that we're not even worth being disappointed in, and finally, in a post specifically aimed at me you seem to be suggesting that meeting my good self wouldn't exactly be the highlight of your life. *Gasps by the way. I'm truly hurt!* None of these three examples are actually good demonstrations of how not to flame or bash, though as I stated before please feel free to carry on as I am amused.
2. Apparently the only reason we're not seeing things as you see them is, quite bizarrely as I shall point out momentarily, because we're just not capable of being impartial. But here is the thing Leia, you have openly stated of Levi, in your own words, "sure I thought he was annoying". You also are quite clearly friends with Chris. So one could hardly, under any circumstances categorize you as impartial. I on the other hand only know of Chris's existence because I've seen him logged in here before, and had never even heard of Levi/Lasota until a couple of days ago. Indeed your opening salvo in this whole debate was clearly written from a point of view of bias because you didn't even bother to study the 'Terms of Service' before spouting off about Levi's infractions. Had you have been completely impartial on this whole issue you would have at the very least done a little research to find out in advance what the typical punishment for such an offense was. So please don't claim that you're unbiased, you're not. Of course though this topic wasn't created out of impartiality at all in spite of what you may claim to the contrary. You, and others apparently, simply don't like Levi is all and that is what this is all about.
After all, and once again incidentally here is another example of contradictory behavior, goodness you really are confused as to the meaning aren't you? I agree with Yvonne when she said that this kind of issue should be handled behind the scenes by contacting CL's and admins. These bash boards are just stupid and serve no purpose other than to get people involved who don't belong or have anything to do with what happened. What I would like to know is why I spent 30 Minot's of my life reading this board.
I’ve read half this post, and I want to jump in here.
First, hacking was classified as someone grabbing information that was on their computer after the person let them in.
This is *not* hacking.
Now, on to what hacking really is.
A lot of you may know what tyler Spivi did, sending around viruses and stuff. He was again, classified as a hacker, and this again was a failure.
A while back, coders (people who write computer programs), would write code, and it would be considered hacking. Not breaking in to anyone’s computers, but just hacking at the code for hours, trying to get it to work, or what ever. Now, hacking has taken on a new meaning. The media’s first response is “OMG, it’s a hacker. Lets go buy an anti virus program and keep the hackers out.” Which does more harm than good. Everyone now runs under a shitload of antivirus and firewalls and hopes they’re going to be protected, when it just slows things down. Not saying it won’t protect, I’m just saying we went off on the wrong goose chase there. We can safely classify the hackers up in to script kiddies, black and white hats. Script kiddies will usually look for scripts, try to alter them to do what they want, and call it their own work. Some are obsessively annoying, wihle others are actually decent and become black/white hat hackers. So, what is a hacker. A hacker is someone who will look for holes and flaws in the security of a computer, electronical device or a corporate/home network and thus exploit them. They have quite a bit of knowledge on the technology they’re breaking in to, and thus are able to find exploits and flaws. There are some who do it for personal gain, hacking for credit card numbers, etc. while there are others that do it for binifitial purposes. There’s nothing as gratifying as finding a security flaw and publishing a patch to it in the open source community, and that’s what a lot of “hackers” like to do. Besides working on open source software, and possibly finding flaws with closed-source programs, they’re also employed to do pen testing, (penetration testing). This means that they basically get paid to break in to a computer, or a set of computers to test the security. They patch up the holes, and keep trying until they can’t do it anymore. So, no this dude didn’t “hack” an account. He just took the password and username from someone who was stupid enough to let him in their computer, for what ever reason. I would assume that his greatest offence would have been just using the account, and exploiting the stupidity of others. Then again, I don’t have all the facts. I will say this, though. I think Chris and the other admins like most people running a service like this are good enough to build a secure system and make sure that they’re notified if someone gets in. That doesn’t mean it won’t be possible to hack this site, it just means that it’s going to be a hell of a lot harder than most people can do, and wasting the time is trivial.

Ok, I didnt read through all of this, but here is my two cents off of what i read. Number 1 say me and some dude had a tandom session, some dude needed me to help him. I connect to some dude, and i fix his problem. I am only controling his computer. therefore he cannot gain any access to mine unless i let him have access to my system. Number 2 Witch hunts like this have never gone well, look at history. It tends to backfire. number 3 take it up with the admins in private. because you stirring a boat load of crap will get you no where. number 4 go harp you said it all
